Big jobs in a micro world

.S. BABLU
It is a brave modern world, with exciting technological possibilities, that opens up to those who specialise in microelectronics and VLSI design.
DRIVING THE WORLD: The modern world would not be able to function effectively without microelectronic devices and components.
Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) is the process of placing thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of electronic components on a single chip.
VEDANT, the VLSI design education and training centre of Semiconductor Complex Limited (SCL), a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Space, offers an advanced six-month postgraduate diploma in VLSI design. SCL was set up in 1983 with a n objective to design, develop and manufacture VLSIs and VLSI-based systems and sub-systems and to create a strong research and development base. SCL entered into a technical collaboration with American Microsystems Inc. U.S.
SCL’s vertically integrated semiconductor operations offer design, wafer fabrication, testing, packaging, quality assurance and reliability testing, VLSI-based system manufacturing and applications support all under one roof.
VEDANT conducts a six months’ full-time training programme, covering the complete VLSI design flow process from specification freezing to PG Tape generation, leading to the award of advanced post graduate diploma in VLSI design. The course is offered by industry people and is a value addition for engineers willing to take up VLSI design as career.
